Rebecca Murray, ARNP
Nurse Practioner
Rebecca Murray, ARNP
Rebecca Murray ARNP (Becky as she prefers to be called) is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner who left a private practice in Functional Medicine in Connecticut to join Dr. Lee at The Institute for Hormonal Balance in 2016. In Connecticut, she specialized in Metabolic Syndrome, diabetes prevention and management, weight loss, hypothyroidism, and hormonal evaluation and balancing.
After meeting Dr. Lee in Las Vegas a number of years ago where they were both speaking a conference, they found out they had many things in common. First, both had started their careers in “critical care medicine”, many times taking care of people with life threatening problems associated with chronic medical conditions that COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED IF IDENTIFIED AND TREATED EARLY. With this in mind, both left the critical care area wanting to transition their medical careers to be more involved with early detection and effective intervention to treat the “underlying functional problem” and thus prevent the long term complications.
Becky started with career by attending Columbia University and then continued her education at the University of Rhode Island obtaining a Master’s Degree in Primary Health Care and Family Nurse Practitioner. She was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Nursing at Yale University (Adjunct Faculty) for 21 years, lecturing and being a preceptor to students in the clinical setting.
In 1995, she was introduced to the work of The Institute for Functional Medicine and Dr. Jeffrey Bland who is considered the “father of functional medicine”. That was a real “game changer” in her career, redirecting her focus to take advantage of every learning experience available to her including attending “Applying Functional Medicine to Clinical Practice” coursework and becoming a member of various organizations offering superior educational conferences such as Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), American College for the Advancement in Medicine (ACAM), Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine (AIHM), and Age Management Medicine Group (AMMG).
Upholding the philosophy, integrity, and great reputation of the practice started by Dr. Lee in 2008, she takes on each new patient as a personal challenge to help that person attain their highest level of health and well-being. She enjoys a challenge and does not view any case as too difficult to take on. Borrowing from the concept of Sherlock Holmes, she likes to view herself as a “medical detective”, putting the all the clues together in order to ultimately “solve the case”.
She also takes great pleasure in being able to share what she has learned from the top mentors in this field and her patients by lecturing at medical conferences both nationally and internationally and has published articles in peer-reviewed journals.
